once my finals ended , i was in desperate need of some fun....
and what could be more fun than a nice high tea ?!
i'd heard a historic teahouse near us had a rather affordable high tea offering that didn't need rsvps months in advance - so we decided to go right after finals !
i coordinated my outfit to look like the teahouse , while she decided to do the inverse colours of me !
i had fun wearing a new bow i commissioned - it's HUGE !
(this photo has a funny background; the - super kind and attentive - host offered to take our photo , and upon seeing my tatsuya plushie propped against my purse , he came over and flipped him to face the camera , saying "let me move *her* into frame - *she* seems special . i don't know why , but *she* is ."....my friend and i couldnt stop laughing after he left !)
we decided on the "paris blend" black tea , which paired well with our food ! i don't really like a lot of fruity notes in my teas , but the slight tangyness from the citrus was nice & typical of earl grey-like teas . there were also notes of caramel and vanilla !
i prefer loose-leaf teas , and these were bagged , but they were a high-quality brand and properly brewed thankfully ! i enjoyed that they gave us actual sugar cubes to put in our tea , it really ups the atmosphere !
they gave us a nice tower that filled us up well . i really liked the cucumber sandwiches , cheese straws , blueberry scone , & chocolate ganache swan !
i was warned by a reviewer the scone might be a bit overly sweet - and blueberry scones arent typical of a standard high tea - but it wasn't bad at all ! thankfully i've gotten less picky over the years when it comes to fruity scones... the crumb wasn't typical of a high tea scone either , but i still enjoyed it !
sadly the pimento cheese sandwiches were pretty dry... which stung a bit because i love pimento cheese to death ! i didn't try most of the deserts because i'm a bit picky , but i liked the coconut macaron i had !
but overall, the food, tea, presentation,& atmosphere were great !
we also took a few photos outside ! it was relatively warm , but not unbearably so . thankfully we came on a nice day and could walk a bit in the breeze & sun !
i've been trying to be more creative with my hair as of late , so i styled them in curly twintails ! i followed a japanese jirai's tutorial , actually ! you'll see me in this style more and more frequently soon...
i also had quite a few "newer" items in this coord , namely my headbow , vivienne westwood orb , & my btssb "fril blouse" !
we ended this lovely day antiquing together , full on tea & treats !!!
